Rome Travel Guide:

Friday Evening, April 6, 1990 The Flights

Special Features inside!
- My photo with the stars of 'The Godfather III'
- My run-in with the Pope
- Pickpocketed by Gypsies

Planning the Rome trip. I suggest buying some guides and studying the history and street names well ahead of time if you are able. That way, your $1000+ spent will go farther.

Alitalia to Vatican Rome

loss of signed hockey sticks

- Our U of IL, Chicago Varsity Hockey team and Coach signed a goalie stick for me to present to the Pope. Dumb Alitalia placed my bags and sticks on wrong flight, and I had to lose valuable Pilgrimage time returning to the airport, fighting Customs, to locate and retrieve my stuff. I do not recommend Alitalia. They are notorious for always blundering. But then again, there's not much choice.

  Frankfurt, stop to Vatican Rome

Stop at Frankfurt, Germany. Outside, the taxicabs are all shiny Mercedes. They figure it's cheaper in the long run since the cars last so much longer, are cleaner and don't need so much repair. I guess they like quality better than we do.

Arrival, Sat April 7, Late evening European time

-- adjust your bio clocks, purge the jet lag, big day ahead tomorrow (sleep!)

On to Day 1 at Rome.
